Important Tools for Church SEO
Well, for that fact SEO in general, but since this blog niche is Internet Marketing for churches, we’ll go with church SEO.
There are a couple of ways to obtain valuable keyword research. Google Adwords has a splendid free tool that does a great job of giving you an idea of how competitive a phrase is, as well a great variations of your primary phrase.
The second does cost for a subscription, but is invaluable. That is Wordtracker. Wordtracker has been in my toolkit for over four-years, and gives me great insight into search behavior.
Best yet is that Wordtracker has a “money back guarantee”, plus a free trial. That way you can test the tool before you commit your hard earned dollars.
Once you have the list of keywords in which to promote your site, you can craft them into an SEO campaign, Paid Search Campaigns in Google or Facebook, or write on those topics in your blog.
Have fun digging for those golden keywords, and much success to fishing with the best bait.
Church Marketing Sucks
I was reading a blog post by Nils Smith, and it really jolted my “thinker.” The title that I used for this post is the title of his post, which is at the end of it all is the name of a blog that is on the cutting edge of this topic.
Nils writes, “I love their title: The blog to frustrate, educate and motivate the church to communicate, with uncompromising clarity, the truth of Jesus Christ.”
You can find the Church Marketing Sucks site here.
The post from Nils can be found here.
The only thing I ask is that you be open minded ….
Innovative Church Marketing Example
Interesting read on how a church in Florida got past the challenge of people remembering their domain name while cars zipped by on the highway.
Nice Marketing by Florida Church
Give some thought to an easy to remember domain name that you can forward to your church site, especially if you domain is extremely long.
Church Web Hosting Must be Reliable and Secure
Catherine Smith wrote an interesting article entitled, “Small Business Web Hosting Must be Reliable and Secure on a web hosting review site, and it got me to thinking about what is important for church web hosting.
1) Reliability is essential – Regardless of why you have a web property, you want it to be available to people when they find you. Nothing is more unprofessional than having a broken, or slow loading site.
2) Security is essential – The last thing you want is for some hacker group to break into your site and deface it with a message that would be offensive to your congregants or visitors. For that matter you don’t want someone breaking into your hosting site in order to store content that they make accessible to others, i.e., music, warez, or goodness forbid porn.
3) Affordability is essential – Let’s face it. Hosting has long been a commodity service. Most churches will not be hosting extremely complex sites, or serving their pages up to millions of people. (Although that would be awesome.)
I have had the privilege, and experience of using quite a number of hosting environments over the years. For churches and religious organizations, Bluehost would be one of the providers at the top of my list. They low hosting cost even includes your domain name.
Web Hosting $6.95 Per Month / Free Domain
In her article, Catherine wrote, “A good provider should be like a “one-stop-shop” that provides a solution to small business web hosting, email, ecommerce, domain name hosting and other related services.” I concur.
